Reasons to compete in your EV

1

EVs can be ideal for short-form motorsport formats like sprints, autosolos, rallycross and hillclimbs

2

They're a sustainable and accessible entry point

The 2025 Bridgestone FIA ecoRally Cup came to Dundee on 26–27 July, marking Scotland’s first FIA rally in 14 years. As one of the UK’s leading sustainable cities, Dundee showcased its environmental credentials while hosting competitors tackling routes such across stunning Scottish scenery and the iconic Knockhill Circuit. Open strictly to EVs, the precision-based ecoRally format saw points awarded for time accuracy, with Motorsport UK’s StreetCar graduates Sam Naylor and Iain Carr achieving second place. The event highlighted motorsport’s role in driving awareness and adoption of sustainable propulsion technologies.

Standard Electric Vehicles

Standard Road Car Electrified Vehicles can be used in the following Motorsport UK disciplines:

  • Autotests and AutoSOLOs
  • Road and Navigational Rallies
  • Cross Country Trials
  • Sprints
  • Hill Climbs
  • Drag Racing
  • Trials

Electrified Vehicle Passports are currently required for Speed Events (Sprints, Hill Climbs and Drag Racing). As a self declaration, no Scrutineer inspection is required to apply for these passports.

An Electrified Vehicle Passport is a document that lives with the car and tells the scrutineers and marshals everything they need to know about it, like the power output, drivetrain layout and where the charging ports are located.

For an Electrified Vehicle Passport application form and information on how to apply, please email techncial@motorsportuk.org.

Modified and Bespoke Electrified Vehicles

Modified and bespoke Electrified Vehicles can potentially compete in any event. Electrified Vehicles are already competing in disciplines like Circuit Racing, Stage Rallying, Drag Racing and Rallycross.

An Electrified Vehicle Passport is required for all modified and bespoke Electrified Vehicles. For an Electrified Vehicle Passport application form and information on how to apply, please email techncial@motorsportuk.org.
